Even Intel confirms. The network has been circulating for a long time about Apple’s abandonment of blue processors for ARM chips on Macs. In recent days, more reports have appeared on the network that seem to confirm these rumors. According to Axios, the developers and representatives of Intel clearly stated that the time of x86 units in Apple products will soon pass.
The first devices from the Mac family based on ARM chips would appear as early as next year. The first fire will probably be the least efficient MacBooks Air, which due to the characteristics of the new processors should work perfectly. However, this is not the end, because from 2021 ARM chips should be used much more often to displace Intel units from the entire Apple range in the next few years.
Intel had to confirm these reports in an interview with Axios, and Bloomberg also added, according to which everything is related to the plan called Marzipan. Apple wants all applications created for its devices to have exactly the same base by 2021, so they will work on the iPhone, iPad and Mac computers without any additional modifications. In this way, the company will connect its stores properly and bring the iOS and MacOS system closer together. Apple, however, announces that it does not intend to combine them and does not create one common operating system.
The resignation of Intel processors will be an important step thanks to which the entity will become largely independent of the blue solutions and will be able to rely on its own systems. As we remember, Apple made similar decisions in the past – first the entity used Motorola’s systems to switch to PowerPC chips, and then head towards Intel. Now it’s time for ARM and we’re very curious to see how this architecture works for the most powerful Mac devices.
