While the entire runet was busy discussing the leak of data from Sberbank customers, another network was found on the network that contained information about almost 9 million Beeline users who connected their home Internet. A new issue was reported by the publication “Businessman". According to journalists who have already carried out their own verification, the data in this database are relevant.
A link to the base with journalists was shared by their own sources in information security banking services, and then information about this database “surfaced” in several Telegram channels.
It is reported that the database contains 8.7 million records with information about customers who connected home Internet via Beeline throughout Russia. Employees of Kommersant who have Beeline Internet connected or connected have found their full name, address, mobile and home phones in the database. Moreover, both existing and closed contracts were identified, since the database contains data as of November 2016.
Such information can be of considerable value to scammers using social engineering. In addition, such information can be combined with data from other databases, which will allow criminals to collect the full “profile” of the victim.
The Beeline press service said it had already investigated the incident. The operator’s representatives drew attention to the fact that at the moment Beeline’s wired broadband subscriber base is less than 3,000,000.
“This information (made public) is a small part of the 2017 base. We recorded a data leak two years ago. All the perpetrators were identified and punished, at the moment most of the information is already outdated data, ”Beeline representatives assure and emphasize that the security service continues to investigate the incident.
