The Firefox web browser is a great alternative to Google Chrome, used by 65% of Internet users. Recently the premiere of update 67.0.1 took place (from our program database you can even download version 67.0.2 released today), and today we learned about the ambitious plans of the Mozilla Foundation related to the new Firefox Premium service. The information was provided by Mozilla’s CEO, Chris Beard.
Firefox Premium will be a service based on the principle of paid subscription. It is thanks to her that Mozilla could obtain additional funds for the development and popularization of its program, the development of which is currently maintained mainly from donations and offers displayed in search engines within the application. The user who decides to pay the monthly subscription would have quite interesting benefits.
First of all, the bonus would be access to an advanced, unlimited VPN. Thanks to this, access to the network could be used anonymously and bypass restrictions in countries where certain content is blocked by censorship. Beard also mentioned that Mozilla will also offer a free, limited version of such a service. It is not known whether this will be a proprietary service or prepared in cooperation with another entity.
The second of the benefits of using a Firefox Premium subscription would be access to a virtual disk. There were no particulars in this matter, but it would probably be a cloud solution with a high degree of security. Mozilla stresses at every step that this is the highest priority when developing the application.
We know for sure that everyone will initially get free, time-limited access to Firefox Premium to be able to see for themselves the quality of the new service. We also know that the two benefits above are not to end. Other details of this case are currently being kept secret.
